Job summary

Downers Grove Grade School District 58 is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Instructional Assistant in the BEST program at Kingsley Elementary School. The role supports teachers by implementing planned instruction, preparing materials, and assisting students with behavioral, social, and academic needs.

Work hours align with school schedule; wage is $18.06 per hour with a $2,000 annual stipend prorated by start date. A valid Para-Professional license / ISBE educator license is required.

Qualifications

• ValidPara-Professional license or Professional Educator's License issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.

Responsibilities

• Carry out instruction for individual students and small groups as planned by the teacher.
• Alert the teacher to problems or information about an individual student.
• Implement strategies and interventions designed by teachers to meet student needs.
• Prepare materials for sessions under guidance of the classroom teacher.
• Work with individuals or small groups in review, reinforcement, and expansion of skills.
• Support teachers with interventions, accommodations, and modifications for academic, social, and emotional success.
• Supervise learning groups with teacher direction.
• Communicate progress and issues to teachers regarding students.
• Review assignments with students and organize classwork and homework relevant to each student.
• Interact positively with students considering individual differences and needs.
• Utilize confidential student information in accordance with District regulations.
• Assume responsibilities outside the classroom related to supervision of students.
• Assist students with self-help and health needs as necessary.
• Assist teachers in maintaining classroom discipline and supporting management.
• Work with media and technology as required in the job area.
• Participate in planned trainings and inservice meetings as requested by administration.
• Perform other assigned tasks essential to the position.
