Thayer Academy is seeking an experienced, passionate, and team-oriented full-time teacher of the arts and leader in arts technology. This position reports to the Middle School Director.

What You’ll Do

  • Teach 2- 8th grade Arts electives each trimester (possibilities include Fall- Graphic Design, photography, architecture, fashion design, Winter- Digital Music, Spring Movie Making, or Theatrical Design)
  • Run Sound and AV for our performance and gathering spaces
  • Enable students to utilize the audio lab for podcasts, and sound recording
  • Teach an introduction to movie-making elective
  • Teach skills-based workshops during Intersession
  • Support and monitor the use of the Collaborative Design Lab, Media Lab, and Audio Lab as able
  • Apply practices in the classroom and other settings that foster equity, inclusion, and belonging among Thayer Academy community members
  • Engage in ongoing professional development

Who We’re Looking For

  • A bachelor’s degree required, Masters (or higher) preferred in Education or Arts, Technology or a related field
  • Experience using movie-making/editing software such as Premier Pro/plus or iMovie
  • 3+ years of teaching experience at the Middle School or Secondary School level preferred
  • Maker Space or Design Lab knowledge and experience
  • Passion for working with adolescents and desire to build relationships
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in the classroom, in curriculum, and in relationships with members of the school community
  • High level of comfort and experience with technology in an educational setting
  • Willingness to work on a team in a collaborative department
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and families

Compensation

  • $62,520 to $70,350
