Position Overview

BASIS San Antonio Metro is seeking qualified candidates for our 6th - 8th Grade History Teacher roles. The Subject Expert Teacher (SET) is responsible for ensuring exceptional education by preparing and facilitating subject-specific lesson plans, implementing the BASIS Curriculum, and tailoring topics to their expertise and passion for history.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject matter or 24+ credit hours in applicable subject with another degree
• Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in subject matter or education
• 2+ years teaching or educational experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver engaging, grade-specific lessons
• Teach at a higher level than grade standard to promote exceptional student outcomes
• Design effective assessments aligned with the BASIS Curriculum
• Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum and foster a professional community
• Tutor students to improve content knowledge and skills
• Manage classroom behavior to support a positive learning environment
• Support non-instructional duties such as “Early Bird,” “Late Bird,” and lunch supervision
• Maintain consistent attendance and supervise students as needed
