Job summary

ReNEW Schools is seeking a Middle School High Ability Math Teacher to provide accelerated instruction aligned with Indiana standards for high-ability students. The role focuses on rigorous, enrichment-based learning up to Algebra 1 and collaboration with grade-level teams.

The teacher will design differentiated, data-informed lessons, monitor progress, and foster a growth mindset, citizenship, and strong student engagement in a supportive school community.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver middle school high-ability math curriculum aligned with Indiana State Standards.
• Create a safe, inclusive classroom supporting individualized, small-group, and accelerated instruction.
• Design rigorous lessons with enrichment and higher-order thinking tasks.
• Teach accelerated/advanced math courses and ensure pacing meets high-ability learners’ needs.
• Use ongoing assessments to monitor progress and adjust instruction with extensions or interventions as needed.
• Provide differentiated instruction tailored to student strengths and readiness levels.
• Model and teach academic responsibility, growth mindset, and citizenship per school expectations.
• Maintain accurate records of learning, grades, and attendance.
• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to support growth and communicate progress.
• Set clear expectations for behavior to maintain a productive learning environment.
• Work with grade teams and leadership to review curriculum, analyze data, and align practices.
• Administer district and state assessments following protocols.

General Description:

The Middle School High Ability Math Teacher will provide advanced and accelerated math instruction aligned to Indiana State Standards for high-ability and high-achieving students at Career Academy Middle School. The teacher will design rigorous learning experiences that challenge students, promote problem-solving, and support enrichment beyond the on-grade level curriculum up to Algebra 1.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, education, or a related field.
• Valid Indiana Teaching License with the appropriate math endorsement.
• Preferred: Experience working with advanced, gifted, or high-ability learners, High Ability Certification or the commitment to obtain

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver middle school high-ability math curriculum aligned with school goals, Indiana State Standards, and best practices for gifted education.
• Create a classroom environment that is safe, inclusive, and supportive of individualized, small-group, and accelerated instruction.
• Design rigorous lesson plans that challenge students through enrichment, higher-order thinking tasks, and advanced problem-solving opportunities.
• Teach assigned math courses at an accelerated or advanced level, ensuring pacing and content meet the needs of high-ability learners.
• Use ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction, including providing extensions or interventions when needed.
• Provide differentiated instruction tailored to student strengths, interests, and readiness levels.
• Model and teach academic responsibility, growth mindset, and citizenship in alignment with school and district expectations.
• Maintain accurate records of student learning, grades, and attendance according to school policies.
• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to support student growth and communicate progress effectively.
• Set and uphold clear expectations for student behavior to maintain a functional, productive learning environment.
• Work closely with grade-level teams, math colleagues, and school leadership to review curriculum, analyze data, and align instructional practices.
• Administer district and state assessments following required protocols.

School Activities:

The Middle School High Ability Math Teacher is expected to participate in school activities as assigned, including but not limited to:
