South Orange - Maplewood Public Schools is seeking a Teacher of Health & Physical Education for the middle school level. The 1.0 FTE position is at South Orange Middle School and available November 2026. The role covers the Health & Physical Education curriculum for middle school students.

Qualifications include New Jersey K-12 Certification in Health and Physical Education, teaching experience preferred, and additional certifications (Driver's Ed. and Project Adventure) preferred.

Qualifications

• NJ K-12 Certification in Health and Physical Education.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Driver's Ed. and Project Adventure certification preferred.
• Experience with technology preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Background check and U.S. citizenship/legal resident status required.

Responsibilities

• Implements instruction to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interests.
• Guides learning toward curriculum goals and objectives.
• Employs instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting objectives.
• Assesses student performance on an ongoing basis and provides progress reports as required.

• Engages in professional development activities to enhance instructional practices.
