A leading school in Evanston seeks a Head Teacher for the Middle School Social Studies program. This full-time role involves teaching, curriculum implementation, and supporting student transitions to high school. Chiaravalle Montessori School seeks a Head Teacher to teach Social Studies in our Middle School (MS) program for the 2025-2026 school year. The MS Head Teacher will join our middle school team to provide instruction, present curriculum, and conduct assessments for 7th - 8th grade students to support their transition to high school. This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday, from 8am - 4pm.

The Middle School program integrates research, educational trends, and Montessori philosophy to empower early adolescents. We follow a cycle format with four thematic cycles per year: Connections, Explorations, Identity, and Systems. The MS Head Teacher will focus on these themes as they relate to Social Studies. The cycle begins with study guides outlining the work plan for each cycle.
The Head Teacher will observe, plan, and implement the curriculum in accordance with Montessori principles. They will also adapt strategies and accommodations to support student learning throughout the cycle. The format aims to develop organizational, decision-making, and time-management skills.
This is a fully benefited 10-month salaried position. The position is supported by the Middle School Coordinator and Educational Director.
The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field, with Montessori Certification or a State Professional Educator License. A minimum of 2-5 years of relevant teaching experience as a Lead Teacher in Social Studies is required. Excellent observation, interpersonal, communication, organizational, and prioritization skills are essential. The candidate must be adaptable, patient, and able to maintain respectful communication with children and adults.
Physical requirements include the ability to see, walk, hear, and talk, as well as lift and carry up to 15 lbs regularly, and up to 40-50 lbs in emergency situations. Reaching, pushing, and pulling are also necessary for maintaining supplies and equipment.
