POSITION ELA Teacher (Grades 6, 7, & 8)

Reports To: Principal

Job Purpose: Pardes is looking for an outstanding and talented individual to serve as an ELA Teacher for 6th and 7th grades, fostering a love of literature, writing, and critical thinking in students.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide engaging instruction in English Language Arts, including reading comprehension, literature analysis, grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills.
• Develop and implement a rigorous and developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with school and state standards.
• Partner proactively with faculty and administration to support diverse learners in the areas of academic, behavioral, and social/emotional growth.
• Collaborate with grade-level team members to plan and implement instruction, fostering student curiosity and engagement.
• Provide regular written student-progress reports to the Principal.
• Maintain confidential student records and keep accurate documentation of student progress, parent communication, etc.
• Participate in faculty meetings and professional development.
• Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments.
• Communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
• Communicate necessary information regularly to students, Principal, and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
• Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
• Must be able to pass an initial fingerprint and background clearance check and maintain a valid fingerprint clearance card at all times when in the classroom.

Job Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Education, English, or a related field.
• Arizona State Teaching Certification (preferred).
• Prior experience teaching middle school ELA, preferably in an independent or Jewish day school setting.
• Strong knowledge of middle school literacy development, writing instruction, and literature-based curriculum.
• Outstanding interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
• Technology skills including Google Suite and Google Classroom.
• High-energy and enthusiasm about working in a dynamic educational environment.
• Familiarity with the following is preferred, but not required: differentiated instruction, Responsive Classroom training, and integrating Jewish themes into literature studies.
