Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a passionate Cross Country Assistant Coach for a one-year position starting the 2026-2027 season. This role focuses on enhancing educational opportunities for students through athletics, adhering to the values of the Chelan Athletic Department.

The ideal candidate will have prior coaching experience and demonstrate the ability to mentor middle school student-athletes, ensuring an exceptional educational experience and positive relationships.

Salary ranges from $2,164 to $2,989 based on experience, with the season running from September 1st through November 7, 2026.

Qualifications

• Prior coaching and/or playing experience in the sport.
• Proven ability to coach at the middle school level.
• Willingness to work with staff.
• Valid first aid and CPR card, or willingness to obtain upon hiring.
• FBI and Washington State Patrol background clearance.

Chelan Middle School has an opening for a Cross Country Assistant Coach (One Year Only) starting the 2026-2027 season. We are seeking a passionate coach committed to enhancing educational opportunities for students through athletics, while promoting the Chelan Athletic Department core values: Motivated, Open Minded, Respectful and Engaged. Salary range is $2,164 - $2,989 based on prior, documented, school district experience in the same sport. Season will be September 1st through November 7, 2026.

• FBI, Washington State Patrol and Sexual Misconduct background clearance.

Coaching Staff Expectations

• Responsible for administering a program that is organized, well prepared, and operated with integrity. Coaches should use athletics to teach valuable life skills and provide an exceptional educational experience for the student-athletes.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with the student-athletes. Strive to be a quality role model that the student-athletes feel comfortable going to for mentorship, always putting student-athletes’ needs at the forefront and vigorously working to serve their needs.
• Commitment to promoting the vision, values, and mission of the school district and athletic department.
