Middle School Computer Science & Engineering Teacher | Robotics Club Advisor | All-Girls School

Join The Baldwin School, a distinguished PK-12 all-girls college preparatory institution with a rich history dating back to 1888, and ignite a passion for computer science and engineering in our Middle School students. In our innovative DREAM Lab, you'll champion creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving, empowering girls to become future leaders and innovators. Beyond the classroom, you'll lead our dynamic Upper School Robotics Club, fostering teamwork and technical skills.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and teach computer science and engineering curriculum in partnership with the department chair and colleagues to ensure a cohesive learning experience across grades;
  2. Oversee maintenance and safety of makerspace equipment and tools;
  3. Collaborate with colleagues to integrate technology and hands-on learning into the broader curriculum;
  4. Enhance experiential learning initiatives throughout the Middle School;
  5. Create an inclusive classroom environment, establish routines, and build positive relationships with students, providing feedback with patience, empathy, and respect;
  6. Assess student progress, adjust teaching plans, and communicate regularly with students and parents about progress;
  7. Maintain a digital classroom page via Baldwin’s LMS to communicate activities to families;
  8. Design interdisciplinary, project-based learning experiences in collaboration with other content area teachers;
  9. Engage in professional development to grow as an educator;
  10. Serve as Robotics Club Advisor in partnership with the Shipley School;
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by school leadership.
Qualifications:
  1. B.A. or M.A. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field;
  2. 2-5 years teaching experience, preferably at the Middle School level;
  3. Experience with makerspaces and familiarity with 3D design tools (e.g., SketchUp, AutoCAD, TinkerCAD);
  4. Knowledge of design thinking and project-based learning methodologies;
  5. Robotics experience;
  6. Creative, energetic, and positive teaching approach;
  7. Proficiency with educational technology;
  8. Strong communication skills, with ability to provide developmentally appropriate feedback.
