Brownsville Independent School District FINE ARTS DEPARTMENT in Brownsville, Texas seeks an Assistant Choir Director for the Middle School program for the 2026-2027 school year. The role is full-time, with starting date immediately and serves under the Fine Arts Department.

The candidate will teach ensemble classes, conduct rehearsals, and assist with concerts, UIL/TMEA activities, and related paperwork to ensure high-quality music education for BISD students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and Texas teaching certification or enrollment in an alt-cert program.
• Knowledge of State and UIL policies governing vocal education and ability to implement policy.

Responsibilities

• Teach ensemble classes and conduct choir rehearsals.
• Assist Head Choir Director with extracurricular events including concerts, competitions, TMEA and UIL activities.
• Assist with paperwork and instructional duties to provide the best music education for BISD students.
• Assist with performing groups at concert and sight-reading competitions, Solo & Ensemble, and other choral performances.
