Job summary

The Academy of Dover is seeking a Middle School Girls Assistant Basketball Coach to support the school’s athletics program in Dover, Delaware. The role reports to the Athletic Director and contributes to a structured practice and competitive game environment.

The ideal candidate will have prior coaching experience with middle school students, a solid understanding of DIAA rules, and a commitment to student safety and positive sportsmanship within the school community.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in coaching middle school basketball.
• Must demonstrate a firm knowledge of DIAA rules and regulations.
• Employment with the Academy of Dover is contingent upon successful completion of: Criminal Background Check, Child Protection Registry, TB Test, Verification of Credentials and Past Employment, Adherence to Academy Policies and Procedures.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and organize daily practice plans.
• Adapt and modify coaching techniques, strategies and game plans.
• Promotes and maintains positive public relations with parents/guardians and the community.
• Provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship and player conduct.
• Complies with all DIAA and Academy policies and regulations.
• Communicates thoroughly and effectively pre, post and in season information to players, parents/guardians and school administrators.
• Maintain and inventory all equipment and uniforms.
• Oversee the safety of the athletes and facility.
• Perform other duties as assigned in relation to the position.
