Job summary

Olathe Public Schools seeks an experienced Middle School Assistant Principal for Summit Trail to lead instructional practice and school operations at Summit Trail. You will assist the principal, manage relationships with staff, students, and families, and promote a positive, safe climate while supporting district goals.

The role emphasizes instructional leadership, data literacy, and collaboration with stakeholders to drive student achievement and social-emotional learning.

Qualifications

• Licensed KS administrator
• 3–5 years of leadership experience
• Assistant Principal experience preferred
• Strong instructional leadership and data-driven decision making

Responsibilities

• Display a data driven focus on student achievement and SEL through continuous improvement of instruction.
• Build and sustain relationships with students, staff, parents and district personnel.
• Assist the principal with communication between staff, students and parents during evaluations and problem-solving.
• Support a positive, safe school climate and address student behavior issues.
• Oversee school resources and technology aligned to instructional goals and student achievement.
• Participate in staff recruitment, development and retention efforts.
• Conduct performance discussions and ensure timely evaluations per policy.
• Delegate administrative tasks and supervise staff to support effective school operation.
• Provide staff professional development and coaching for growth mindset.
• Communicate district information to staff and participate in PLCs and PD.
• Support school events and perform other assigned duties.
