Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver is seeking an assistant coach for the Brighton, CO campus. The role supports the head coach, assists with player development, team strategy, and prepares athletes for competition during the late-afternoon/evening practice window.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED (college degree preferred), excellent communication skills, and a commitment to a positive team environment.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes with guidance from head coach to prepare for competition.
• Assist head coach in all phases of the sport program including player development and team strategy.
• Demonstrate leadership by implementing expectations and direction of the program.
• Prepare team for competition.
• Attend all practices and games.
• Assist with setup and takedown of equipment for practices and games.
• Complete all required training and provide documentation within 90 days of hire date.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance and communicate effectively about absences or tardiness to minimize disruption.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver (ACAND)- Brighton, CO

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Athletic Director and Head Sport Coach

Work Hours/Days: This position requires availability generally Mondays thru Fridays in the late afternoons and evenings during the sport season

• Winter Season (Late October - December)
• Practice/game days will be held after school during the school week

Weekly hours will be approximately 10-12 hours

Desired Start Date: October 19, 2026

Stipend Wage Range: $500.00 or higher based on coaching experience. There will be a one-time payout upon the completion of your season

Key Responsibilities

• Instruct and work with athletes with guidance from the head coach to prepare them for competition
• The assistant coach role is responsible for assisting the head coach in all phases of the sport program that include player development, team strategy and more
• Demonstrate leadership by implementing of expectations and direction of the program

• Complete all required training and provide documentation as well as official college transcripts within 90 days of hire date
• Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations
• Demonstrate proficiency in both written and spoken English to effectively perform their job responsibilities and communicate in the workplace
• Perform other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

• Prefer a college degree but requires at least a high school diploma or GED
• Previous high school or middle school coaching experience preferred
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals

• Complete all required coaching training prior to the start of each sport season

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to traverse the sports complex, field, or court
