Job summary

Fredericksburg Christian School is seeking an Assistant Coach to provide Christian leadership, supervision, and coaching instruction across sports. You will support and advance the mission by guiding teams at various school levels and reporting directly to the Head Coach.

Core responsibilities include teaching parts of the game, helping student‑athletes grow personally and as a team, communicating with players, staff, parents, and the community, and ensuring compliance with FCS, VCAC, and VISAA

Qualifications

• Committed Christian with a walk with the Lord and a Christ-centered example.
• Regular in attendance at an evangelical church.
• Commitment to a Biblical lifestyle.
• Previous head coaching experience preferred.
• Playing experience required if assistant coach, this is preferred not required.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrates professionalism and contributes to a positive environment.
• Working knowledge about athletic program regulations.
• Skillfully manage individual, group, and organizational interactions.
• Averts problem situations and intervenes to resolve conflicts.
• Exercises self-control and perseverance when dealing with students.
• Must be CPR/AED certified or willing to complete certification shortly after hire.

• Be knowledgeable of, monitor, and maintain compliance with applicable health and safety practices
• Maintain an acceptable attendance record and is punctual

Requirements

1. Committed Christian with a close personal walk with the Lord and the Christian character qualities to serve as a role model for young people
2. Regular in attendance at an evangelical, Protestant church
3. Commitment to a Biblical lifestyle, not promoting or engaging in premarital, extramarital, transgender, or homosexual behavior
4. If married, a solid commitment based on Mark 10:9 and positive marital relationship
5. Strong commitment to Christian education
6. Previous head coaching experience at the high school or club level preferred
7. Playing experience required (if assistant coach, this is preferred, not required)
8. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including effective listening skills
9. Demonstrates professionalism and contributes to a positive environment
10. Working knowledge about athletic program regulations
11. Skillfully manage individual, group, and organizational interactions
