Summary
Instructs students in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth, contributing to their development as responsible individuals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teaches district-approved curriculum.
- Creates a conducive learning environment suitable for students' maturity and interests.
- Prepares for assigned classes.
- Protects students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Employs various instructional techniques and media tailored to student needs.
- Guides learning toward curriculum goals with clear objectives.
- Implements policies and rules governing student conduct, maintaining classroom order.
- Assesses student progress regularly and provides reports.
- Evaluates academic and social growth, maintaining records.
- Encourages positive classroom behavior standards.
- Diagnoses learning disabilities, consulting specialists as needed.
- Maintains accurate records as required by law and policy.
- Available to students and parents outside instructional hours.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Student aides and parent helpers.
Qualifications
- Four-year degree in relevant field.
- Valid South Carolina Teaching Certificate in appropriate subject area(s).
