Middle/High School Full Time Custodian
Job Description
Hours: 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm
Qualifications
- High school diploma or the equivalent.
- Ability to perform physical work, including lifting heavy objects up to 40 pounds
- Enjoy working around kids and works well with others.
- Personal integrity, effective communication,
- One year of experience in a custodial position is preferred.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.
- Possesses knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, with a focus on pride in keeping the school in excellent condition.
- Prepare clear, concise, and factual written communications.
- Speak to students, parents, colleagues, and the community with respect and dignity.
- Listen to others' ideas with understanding.
- Adapt to changes in responsibilities and work schedule with a positive attitude.
- Represent the district in a positive manner through courteous behavior and professional actions.
- Arrive and leave work at scheduled times; respect time limits on breaks and lunch periods.
- Recognize opportunities for improvement and/or implement improved methods within the limits of authority.
- Maintain work area in an organized manner in accordance with the job requirements.
- Dress appropriately for work requirements.
- Use team concept to plan, problem solve, and share space, equipment, resources, and knowledge with coworkers.
- Display a courteous, helpful, and pleasant manner in dealing with employees, students, and the community.
- Express support for the efforts and accomplishments of other employees and students.
Duties (not limited to):
- Keep the school and its grounds in a safe, clean, sanitary, and satisfactory condition.
- Sweep, polish, and refinish floors
- Vacuum and shampoo carpets, upholstered furniture, and drapes
- Remove marks from floors, walls, partitions, doors, and lockers
- Clean and disinfect all wash basins, urinals, commodes, and seats
- Disinfect high-use areas on a regular basis. (fountains, doorknobs, switches, tables, etc.)
- Polish all mirrors, frames, faucets, and flush valves.
- Other duties as assigned
