Job Description
Middle & High School Spanish/Foreign Language Teacher
A Full-time (1.0 FTE) middle/high school Foreign Language teaching position is available for the 2025-2026 school year. Applicants must be highly qualified and have a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an FA-FS endorsement for this assignment or willingness to return to school to pursue it. The rate of pay is per the MEA Agreement. The position will be posted until filled.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Applicants must be highly qualified and have, or work to obtain, a valid Michigan teaching certificate.
- Spanish (FF) endorsement or other foreign language endorsement.

- Skilled at designing learning environments that promote a student’s ability to achieve their highest potential.
- Experience using data to develop lesson plans and instruction.
- Demonstrated successful classroom experience and student teaching.
- Positive, dynamic, and engaging teaching style.
- Proficient with the usage of technology for record-keeping.
- Dedication to developing personal relationships with students, and nurturing social and emotional health while fostering academic growth.
- Familiarity with PBIS.
- Keen awareness of the responsibilities for confidentiality and professionalism.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must have regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
- Manage student behavior and classroom climate to support students’ focus on learning.
- Provide developmentally appropriate individualized, small group, and whole class instruction to meet the learning needs of all students.
- Teach District approved curriculum through both direct instruction and inquiry-based instruction.
- Assess student learning through a variety of evaluation methods such as discussion, projects, performance assessments, tests, demonstrations.
- Communicate frequently with parents and guardians.
- Participate collaboratively with peers and administrators in planning and evaluating the instructional program.
- Positively represent Morenci Area Schools in the community.
- Participate in continual professional growth opportunities that are aligned with district priorities.
- Demonstrate understanding of the substance of their subjects, including both facts and organizing ideas and instruction.
- Articulate student learning objectives and reasons for importance, provide timely accurate feedback to students, and engage students in self-assessment.
- Demonstrate understanding of diverse family and cultural backgrounds and interest in students.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Providing an engaging learning environment that facilitates a high level of student achievement.
- Effective communication with students, staff, administration, parents, and community members.
- Strong technology literacy and data collection methods.
- Professional appearance and regular attendance at school-sponsored events and activities.
- Keen awareness of responsibilities for confidentiality and professionalism.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of highly effective classroom management strategies and instructional practices and the ability to implement those concepts in a classroom setting.
