Job description

The Midd at Night student staff member plans, markets, and executes late-night and weekend programming

designed to give students engaging and safe options during peak social hours. This role blends creative event planning, hands-on production, and marketing/promotion work, with the majority of live event responsibilities occurring Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights after 10:00 PM. Student staff work as part of a team to conceive event concepts, coordinate logistics, promote events across campus channels, and staff events from setup through breakdown.

Pay:

This position is compensated at the Level C rate on the Midd student wage scale: $15.40 per hour.

Core Responsibilities:

Event Planning and Execution:

  • Collaborate with the event team and Director of Campus Activities to brainstorm, propose, and develop event concepts aligned with student interest and department goals
  • Draft event proposals, run-of-show timelines,logisticschecklists, and arrange foradditionalstaffing/volunteers as needed
  • Arrive early for setup (tables, signage, décor, tech checks, registration/check-in areas) and remain through breakdown and cleanup
  • Enforce event policies,monitoreventflowand communicate with supervisors or campus safetyregardingcapacity, incidents, or emergencies
  • Operate or coordinate basic equipment (sound systems, projectors, photo booths, etc.) as needed

Marketing and Promotion:

  • Design and distribute promotional materials (social media graphics, flyers, digital signage, email blasts) in coordination with the marketing/communications lead
  • Maintain and update event listings on the campus events calendar and relevant apps or platforms
  • Track engagement metrics (attendance, social media reach, RSVPs) and report results after each event
  • Currently enrolled student in good academic standing
  • Available to work late-night shifts (throughapproximately 1:00–2:00 AM) on Thursdays, Fridays, and/or Saturdays
  • Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, sometimes noisy environment
  • Comfortable with public-facing responsibilities (greeting guests, troubleshooting, occasionally enforcing policy)
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Express, etc.) or social media management
Student Employment Eligibility:

Unless restricted by certain visa status, all students with an active status for the semester are eligible for jobs on campus.

Students on leave or withdrawn are not eligible to work in student employment positions until the semester in which they return. If you are currently withdrawn or on leave you are eligible to be employed in staff positions.

Some may be restricted due to financial aid status. International students (non-resident aliens) may not work off campus unless they have applied for and received work authorization from the United States government. (An F-1 visa does not give work authorization.) Off campus work study positions are available only to U.S. citizens on financial aid with a federal work study component.

Student are not eligible to work remotely from International locations.

Hour Limitations:

All student employees are limited to working no more than 20 hours per week in on campus jobs during the academic year (this includes exam periods). The only exception is when there is a full week when school is not in session. Specifically: February recess, Spring recess, and full weeks of December or summer recess. During these time periods only, students can work up to 40 hours per week. International Students: Visa restrictions prohibit international students from exceeding 20 hours of work per academic calendar week.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

Primary work occurs during evening and late-night hours on weekends; some daytime hours required for planning marketing meetings.

Work involves standing/walking for extended periods: light lifting (up to 25 - 40 lbs for event setup/breakdown), and exposure to loud music/crowded environments.
