Qualifications

Job description

We are currently offering a $1,000 sign-on bonus for all new, full time employees ($500 after 3 months, $500 after 6 months)

Overview:

Tjader and Highstrom Utility Services, LLC (d/b/a Moll's Utility Services) is looking for reliable, hard-working, driven individuals to work on a great team. We are looking for a mid-step Apprentice to work with our distribution voltage projects located in Wisconsin and Iowa. Our primary customer base is rural electric cooperatives and municipal utilities.

Responsibilities:

  • A minimum of 1 year experience with a line crew in the construction and maintenance of electrical lines
  • Assist in the construction of new overhead and underground services and service upgrades (single-phase; three-phase; double-circuit, energized or de-energized)
  • Assist in restoring overhead and underground outages
  • Assist in maintaining existing overhead and underground line
  • Frame and set poles and anchors; install guy wire, sag and tie-in conductors
  • Assist with installation of transformers, switches, voltage regulators, oil circuit-reclosures, capacitors, meters, and other electrical apparatus
  • Trim trees and cut brush on right-of-way for new construction or existing line
  • Participate in traffic control (flagging)
  • Lift, push, pull, hoist and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Perform other work related activities as requested
  • Responsible for following all safety policies and procedures
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed

Qualifications:

  • High-school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of electricity, pole-line materials, the proper and safe use of tools and equipment used in line construction and maintenance, know RUS Construction Specifications, and be familiar with the National Electric Safety Code
  • Must be proficient in pole-top and bucket rescue procedures
  • Should possess the ability to climb poles and exercise proper use of hand-tools while working on a pole
  • Must be CPR and First Aid certified or possess ability to obtain certification within three months of employment
  • Must have or obtain and maintain a valid Class “A" Driver’s License with an air brake endorsement and meet all D.O.T. requirements
  • Must be able to pass required D.O.T physical examinations and drug testing
  • This position may be required to drive company vehicles safely and obey all traffic laws
  • Must become familiar with all company policies and procedures
