Job summary
Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Knoxville is seeking exceptional Emergency Veterinary Technicians to join our ER team on mid/swing shifts. This full-time role offers a high-acuity, collaborative environment with ICU and specialty teams within the Innovetive Petcare network.

Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years in Emergency, ICU or high-volume GP.
- Licensed Veterinary Technician preferred (LVT/RVT/CVT).
- Strong nursing and technical skills for fast-paced ER settings.
Responsibilities
- Assist with emergency triage, stabilization, and urgent interventions.
- Perform rapid patient assessments and initiate treatment protocols.
- Support emergency procedures including CPR, oxygen therapy, and shock management.
- Administer medications via IV, IM, SQ, and oral routes.
- Monitor ER patients and provide high-quality nursing care in stress-filled environments.

Compensation: $18.00 - $26.00 / hour

- Full-Time ER Position
- Multiple shifts available:
- 3pm - 3am
- 4pm - 4am
- 5pm - 5am
- 2 weekdays & 1 weekend day REQUIRED
- Assist with emergency triage, stabilization, and urgent interventions
- Perform rapid patient assessments and initiate treatment protocols
- Support emergency procedures including CPR, oxygen therapy, and shock management
- Perform technical procedures including:
- IV catheter placement
- Blood draws and point-of-care diagnostics
- Radiographs
- Anesthesia induction and monitoring
- Administer medications via IV, IM, SQ, and oral routes
- Assist with wound care, splinting, and emergency surgical prep
- Monitor ER patients throughout treatment and recovery
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition
- Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care in high-stress situations
- Support veterinarians with client updates and discharge education
- Maintain detailed, accurate medical records
- Ensure continuity of care during patient transfers to ICU or specialty services
- Work closely with ER doctors, ICU, and specialty teams
- Participate in case discussions and handoffs
- Contribute to a positive, solution-oriented ER culture
- Required
- 2+ years of experience in Emergency, ICU, or high-volume General Practice
- Strong technical and nursing skills in fast-paced environments
- Ability to remain calm, focused, and effective under pressure
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to patient advocacy and gold-standard care
- Preferred (Not Required)
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, CVT)
- Emergency or Specialty hospital experience
- Interest in pursuing advanced training, licensure, or VTS (ECC)
- Skills & Knowledge
- Proficiency in emergency triage, stabilization, and monitoring
- Strong anesthesia and procedural support skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in dynamic ER settings
- Solid understanding of emergency pharmacology and protocols
- Physical & Emotional Requirements
- Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Emotional resilience and adaptability in urgent care situations
- Competitive Pay:
- $17.50–$24.00/hr based on experience
- $25+/hr negotiable for actively Licensed Veterinary Technicians with relevant ER/Specialty experience
