The Tactical Software and Autonomy Solutions (TSAS) team at i3 supports DoD customers in developing cutting‑edge autonomy software architectures to distribute autonomous control across a diverse assortment of uncrewed air, ground, surface, and subsurface platforms. The team is seeking a Systems Engineer with 5+ years of professional experience to embed with a software development team, assisting with the development of requirements and artifacts, and performing extensive testing of software and systems in development. This is a new project leveraging modern tools to track, develop, deploy, and test software development projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain standardized, testable requirements based on customer and collaborator input.
- Responsible for testing and documentation associated with developing software applications.
- Willing to work within cloud‑based infrastructure and tooling.
- Perform demonstrations and interface with customers to ensure product meets end customer goals.
- Attend test events and generate test artifacts.
- Support software development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Have a Bachelor’s degree (or advanced degree) from an accredited college (ABET preferred) in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or the hard sciences with 5 years of experience.
- Team player who is creative, adaptive, and excited to learn.
- Experience with writing technical requirements.
- Experience writing and executing test plans.
- Familiarity with Agile Scrum development methodology and associated tools.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance or higher.
- Position location: Huntsville, AL.
- CONUS travel required – less than 20%.
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with documentation tools such as Texmaker and PlantUML.
- Experience with a configuration‑management software tool.
- Familiarity with DoD‑typical requirement structures.
- Experience conducting test and integration events.
- Experience supporting field demonstrations.
- Basic networking and troubleshooting techniques.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity with drones and/or RC planes, boats, or ground vehicles.

- Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Monday‑Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
