Mesa Associates, Inc. seeks a mid-level Substation Physical Engineer near Pensacola, FL to advance their career in electric power. Join the Power Delivery Substation group serving clients nationwide, collaborating with drafters, designers, and engineers.

You will design equipment, foundations, grounding, and cable routing for medium-to large-scale projects; perform grounding studies and BOM/conductor sizing work; travel for site visits and office meetings as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering (ABET Accredited).
• 3+ years of transmission substation physical design experience (12kV to 230kV).
• FE Certification preferred – pursue Professional Engineering licensure.
• Proficiency with design software and ability to markup drawings using Bluebeam Revu.
• Understanding of grounding, foundations, cable routing, clearances, and conductor sizing.
• Willing to travel to client sites and Mesa offices as required.

Responsibilities

• Create and review equipment, structural, foundation, grounding, and cable routing plans for medium- to large-scale projects.
• Perform and review lightning and grounding studies; develop BOMs and conductor sizing calculations.
• Coordinate with Protection & Controls, Civil, Studies, and other disciplines to keep designs aligned.
• Spot inconsistencies in drawings/specifications and propose well-documented corrective actions.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers on drafting standards and calculation methods.
• Ensure all deliverables meet code, client requirements, and Mesa QA procedures.
