Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Staff Accountant in Chicago, IL to support month-end closes, journal entries, and ledger reconciliations. This role contributes to accurate financial reporting and GAAP adherence while engaging in analysis and cross-functional collaboration.

The position offers a hybrid schedule with three days in the downtown Chicago office and two days remote. A BS/MS in Accounting is required along with 3–5 years of experience; Excel proficiency and Workday experience are highly

• CPA candidacy desirable but not required.
• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Detail-oriented and strong analytical skills.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and sound business judgment.
• Ability to work collaboratively across functional areas.
• Advanced skills in Excel.
• Workday experience a plus.

Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a Staff Accountant.

Essential duties and responsibilities for the Staff Accountant include, but are not limited to:

• Prepare month-end journal entries and reconciliations.
• Drive accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.
• Own parts of complex areas of the general ledger such as fixed assets, leases, and intercompany processing.
• Prepare high‑quality workpapers and analyses that support financial statements, GAAP and Tax audits.
• Assist with ad-hoc projects.
• Perform other general accounting duties as assigned.

This position allows for a hybrid work schedule with the expectation of 3 days in our downtown Chicago, IL office and 2 days working remotely from home.

Compensation Range

$70,510.00 - $103,820.00
