The Penn Hills School District, located in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh is currenly seeking a Mid-Level ScienceTeacher for the Penn Hills Linton Middle School.
POSITION TITLE: Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:
A teacher must demonstrate knowledge of a variety of instructional strategies and formative and summative assessments. The purpose of this position is to effectively engage students in the learning process and support their growth in and understanding of the specified subject matter.
PERFORMANCE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1) Responds appropriately to emergency situations according to the Safety plan or for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns in the classroom and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
2) Plans and prepares daily lessons that are designed based on formative assessment data and follows the prescribed curriculum. Those planned lessons must include a variety of instructional methods for the purpose of addressing individual student learning styles.
3) Contributes to the school system’s effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives.
4) Establishes and adjusts course outlines and objectives by following curriculum guidelines and State and local school system goals; modifying plans on the basis of student diagnostic and assessment procedures.
5) Conveys information to students by using language concepts, examples, demonstrations and teaching aids, such as audiovisual equipment and current technology.
6) Assesses student learning by preparing, administering, and scoring tests; reviewing and correcting assignments; eliciting student questions and responses; evaluation application of learning to classroom project results.
7) Monitors student learning results by providing instructional feedback; coaching, counseling and disciplining students; planning, monitoring and appraising learning results.
8) Maintains records by documenting learning accomplishments, attendance and behavior.
9) Guides students’ personal and social developing by establishing rules and procedures for classroom management
10) Uses a variety of instructional activities
11) Matches instruction with needs and skill levels of individual pupils.
12) Communicates with parents by providing academic information; suggesting available educational and social resources; addressing parents’ concerns; answering questions and requests.
13) Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying procedures, rules and regulations.
14) Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending education workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
15) Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish education results.
16) Performs assignments, activities and instruction as assigned by Building Principal and/or primary appraiser in a competent and satisfactory manner as indicated on yearly appraisal.
