Job summary

Boeing Commercial Airplanes in North Charleston, SC, is seeking a Mid‑Level Propulsion Fuels Systems Engineer to join the Propulsion 787 Program Engineering team. This role combines engineering design and integration with hands‑on factory and delivery support for 787 aircraft moving through Charleston final assembly and delivery.

You will work with a multi‑disciplinary engineering team in an agile environment, build technical depth, and develop leadership capability while helping meet aircraft

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • U.S. export control compliance required for U.S. Person.
  • Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead integration of propulsion and fuels changes with other airplane systems.
  • Maintain design oversight of supplier fuel system components and approve changes.
  • Coordinate testing with suppliers and manage design changes.
  • Provide on-site factory and delivery support in North Charleston.
  • Investigate fleet, production, and supplier issues to protect schedules.
  • Coordinate, develop, and publish test plans and reports.
  • Support safety investigations and update system safety analyses.
  • Communicate project status to leadership and partners.
  • Work under general supervision and apply strong technical judgment.

Requirements

Must have:
  • We require a bachelors degree in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing technology), computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or an equivalent non-U.S. qualification directly related to the role.
  • We require at least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • We prefer 3+ years of propulsion engineering experience.
  • We prefer knowledge of airplane safety and certification.
  • We prefer experience with airplane fuel systems and aircraft architecture.
  • We prefer experience working on multidisciplinary projects.
  • We prefer familiarity with the COSP process.
  • We need strong project and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives against key milestones and delivery schedules.
  • We value excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical situations clearly to leaders and subject matter experts.
  • We prefer experience with ENOVIA, CSDT, REDARS, ETAC, IVX, IVT, CATIA, and PDM.
  • We prefer familiarity with root cause corrective actions, BPSMs, fault trees, and cause maps.
  • We prefer knowledge of the large transport-category aircraft certification process.
  • We prefer familiarity with CFR 25.981 and/or 25.1309.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • We require the ability to meet U.S. export control compliance requirements as a U.S. Person.
  • We require a bachelors degree or equivalent.
  • We do not sponsor employment visa status.
Responsibilities:
  • We lead integration of propulsion and fuels changes with other airplane systems and develop design solutions that support product enhancements.
  • We maintain design oversight of supplier-provided fuel system components and review and approve supplier drawings, engineering change proposals, and configuration updates.
  • We work with suppliers to define, plan, and carry out qualification testing and to manage supplier-driven design changes.
  • We manage Specification Control Document requirements, including revisions and new document development when needed.
  • We provide on-site factory and delivery support in North Charleston, troubleshooting fuel system issues on the production line and supporting production holds, pre‑delivery inspections, and delivery acceptance.
  • We investigate and resolve fleet, production, and supplier issues to protect production flow and delivery schedules.
  • We coordinate, develop, and publish test plans, procedures, and reports, and analyze test, certification, and production data to support timely dispositions.
  • We support safety, compliance, and airworthiness investigations and update system safety analyses and airworthiness limitations for the 787.
  • We coordinate across internal teams and partners to meet project objectives and aircraft delivery milestones.
  • We communicate project status, risks, issues, and opportunities to propulsion and program leadership and represent us professionally with suppliers, delivery teams, and external partners.
  • We work under general supervision while self‑directing our work based on customer, product, and stakeholder needs.
  • We apply strong technical judgment to understand and solve complex problems.
