Job summary

Flux Resources, LLC is seeking a Mid-Level Process Mechanical Estimator to prepare detailed cost estimates and support senior staff in budgeting and market analysis. You will perform quantity takeoffs, develop should-cost estimates, and reconcile bids against project scope and current market conditions.

You will collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers, maintaining organized cost data libraries and contributing to efficient project delivery in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent discipline.
• 5–10 years of estimating or related construction experience.
• Experience preparing detailed estimates and cost reconciliations from project docs.

Mid-Level Process Mechanical Estimator

This is a full-time exempt (40+ hours/week) contract to hire, on-site and travel-light role in Indianapolis, IN. This client may consider remote work with quarterly travel to Indianapolis if the candidate lives in Portland, OR or Phoenix, AZ.

Summary

• Prepare detailed process mechanical cost estimates and provide estimating support to senior project staff.
• Develop budget and market estimates using project documentation, industry standards, and current market costs.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and analyze construction documents to establish accurate project costs.
• Develop "should cost" estimates to validate trade pricing and support fair and competitive project costs.
• Reconcile contractor and trade bids against project scope, budgets, and current market conditions.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and project teams throughout the estimating process.
• Support cost analysis, estimate reconciliation, and maintenance of historical cost data.
• Contribute to complex projects in a fast-paced, collaborative estimating environment.

Responsibilities

• Source current pricing information from contractors, suppliers, databases, and other available market resources.
• Prepare reconciliations between multiple estimates, identify cost variances, and communicate the reasons for differences.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project teams to understand scope requirements and maintain strong working relationships.
• Maintain organized estimating documentation, project files, and cost data libraries in accordance with established standards.
• Participate in project site walks as needed, support senior staff with efficiency improvements, and provide guidance to junior technical staff.

Ideal Candidate

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or equivalent relevant discipline experience.
• 5-10 years of relevant estimating or related construction experience.
• Experience preparing detailed estimates, quantity takeoffs, and cost reconciliations from project documentation.
• Understanding of union and trade construction cost standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, technical judgment, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to manage assignments independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and web-based platforms.
• Strong written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting process mechanical construction projects.
• Experience developing "should cost" estimates and validating contractor or trade pricing.
• Experience maintaining and utilizing construction cost databases or cost libraries.
• Experience providing technical guidance or assignment support to junior staff.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly or salary range: $48.08-$57.69/hour (equivalent to $100,000-$120,000 annually based on 2,080 hours/year)
