Job summary

GRVTY is seeking a highly experienced Mechanical Engineer to support the development of our Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) family and navigation products in California. You will design mechanical enclosures, mounting structures, sensors, and payload integrations for harsh maritime environments, working with a multidisciplinary team.

You will create 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and documentation, lead mechanical-system integration with electrical and software components, and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
  • 8+ years of professional mechanical engineering design experience on complex hardware/software systems.
  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD or similar.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques such as machining, composites, or additive manufacturing.
  • Experience with DFMA, FEA tools, and design standards.
  • Strong ability to produce clear, well-organized technical documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and customer audiences.
  • This is a full-time 40-hour week on-site role with core hours 9:00 am–3:00 pm.

  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for enclosures, mounting structures, sensor integration, cabling, electronics packaging, and payload integration.
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and documentation compliant with standards.
  • Lead integration of mechanical systems with electrical, software, and payload components.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure producibility, cost-effectiveness, and quality compliance.
  • Participate in assembly, integration, and test activities, including at-sea tests and environmental testing.
  • Lead author reports/papers and present work at meetings when appropriate.
  • Contribute to configuration management, change control, and engineering reviews.

  • Lead integration of mechanical systems with electrical, software, and payload components

  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are producible, cost-effective, and compliant with quality standards

  • Participate in assembly, integration, and test activities, including at-sea tests and environmental testing

  • Lead author on reports/papers and presents work at meetings when appropriate

  • Contribute to configuration management, change control, and engineering review



What You Must Have


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field

  • 8+ years of professional mechanical engineering design experience on complex hardware/software systems

  • Extensive experience with SolidWorks CAD tool (or similar)

  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques such as machining, composite fabrication, or additive manufacturing

  • Experience with DFMA principles, FEA tools, and design standards

  • Strong ability to produce clear, well-organized technical documentation

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to technical and customer audiences

  • This is a full-time position with the expectation of a minimum 40-hour commitment per work week. The regular workdays are Monday – Friday around the core hours of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm with a 100% on-site requirement. Regular attendance is essential to permit the team to function effectively. The job is performed in an indoor office environment. An employee in this position frequently sits or stands in the same location with opportunity to move about; regularly thinks, concentrates, analyzes, interprets, interacts with others, and communicates orally and in writing; regularly reads, sees, hears, and speaks; regularly uses a computer; and frequently uses hands to write, type, finger, handle, or feel
