Job description

What we’re offering is increasingly difficult to find in private practice: challenging litigation work, a reasonable billable-hour expectation, significant remote flexibility, compensation upside, and a culture that values results over face time.
The Role

We’re ideally looking for an attorney with approximately 4–7 years of litigation experience who is comfortable handling the day‑time responsibilities of an active litigation practice.

This is a hands‑on litigation role. You’ll have opportunities to take and defend depositions, argue motions, appear in court, participate in mediations, communicate directly with clients and opposing counsel, prepare matters for trial, and take meaningful ownership of cases.

We give experienced attorneys room to work. You’ll have substantial autonomy over your matters while still having access to collaboration, strategy, and support when you need it.

What You’ll Do

Responsibilities may include:

  • Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court filings
  • Preparing and responding to written discovery
  • Taking and defending depositions
  • Preparing clients and witnesses
  • Appearing in court and arguing motions
  • Participating in mediations and settlement negotiations
  • Communicating directly with clients and opposing counsel
  • Preparing for hearings and trials
  • Managing case deadlines and calendars
  • Developing litigation strategy with other attorneys at the firm
  • Managing substantial portions of cases independently
  • Helping move matters from initial strategy through resolution

We aren’t looking for someone who has to know everything. We are looking for someone with enough litigation experience to exercise good judgment, take ownership of their work, and recognize when a matter calls for collaboration or additional input.

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Active Tennessee law license in good standing
  • Approximately 4–7 years of litigation experience preferred
  • Strong foundation in civil litigation
  • Courtroom and motion‑practice experience
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and deadline‑management skills
  • Sound professional judgment
  • Confidence communicating directly with clients and opposing counsel
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively when needed
  • High degree of responsiveness, dependability, and ownership

Our attorneys are trusted to understand their matters, manage their responsibilities, communicate proactively, and keep cases moving. In return, the firm gives them meaningful independence in how they accomplish that work.

Flexibility Without Face Time

This is a hybrid position with significant flexibility to work remotely.

We don’t believe an attorney needs to sit in an office every day simply to demonstrate that they’re working. Office space is available for focused work, collaboration, client meetings, case preparation, and anything else that benefits from being together in person.

Litigation does require showing up when it matters. The attorney joining us must be available for in‑person court appearances, hearings, depositions, mediations, trials, client meetings, and other case needs.

Our approach is built around trust. We care about excellent work, responsiveness, meeting commitments, and results—not where you're sitting while the work gets done.

A More Reasonable Billable Target

Our annual billable target is approximately 1,500 hours.

We want legitimate, productive, collectible legal work—not unnecessary billing simply for the sake of reaching a number.

We also recognize that some attorneys want to produce more. For those who do, our compensation structure provides additional financial upside for production above the firm’s baseline expectations.

Compensation

Expected base salary is approximately $115,000–$125,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

In addition to base compensation, the position includes production‑based bonus opportunities. Attorneys who choose to produce above the firm’s baseline expectations have the opportunity to meaningfully increase their compensation.

The structure is designed to provide both balance and upside. Specific production incentives will be discussed during the hiring process.

  • Employer‑supported health benefits, with dental and vision options
  • PTO
  • Firm holidays
  • CLE and professional development support
  • Appropriate attorney professional expenses
Why Harrison Litigation Team?

We’re building a law firm where talented attorneys can do sophisticated work without automatically adopting every feature of the traditional law‑firm model.

What that means for the attorney who joins us:
  • Approximately 1,500 billable hours annually
  • Significant remote‑work flexibility
  • A leadership team focused on creating a positive, growth‑oriented work environment
  • Meaningful autonomy and case ownership
  • Direct client relationships
  • Depositions and courtroom opportunities
  • Substantive responsibility for cases
  • Production‑based compensation upside
  • Room to develop your practice and professional reputation
  • An opportunity to help shape a growing boutique firm

We want attorneys to have challenging work and meaningful careers, but we also believe it’s possible to build a successful litigation practice without measuring commitment by how late someone sits in an office.

For the right attorney, this is an opportunity to join a growing firm, take on meaningful responsibility, and have a genuine impact on what the practice becomes.
