Mid-Level Full Stack Software Engineer -- AI/ML Model Development, ML Operations, and Applied Data Science

About The Role

Redhorse is hiring a Mid-Level Full Stack Software Engineer to support the Department of Defense's Chief Digital and AI Office (CDAO). You will enhance data-driven decision-making by developing and maintaining software within the Advana platform, directly impacting AI/ML capabilities for applications like GAMECHANGER, Contract Search, and JBook Search. This role offers significant growth opportunities and collaboration with AI and data science experts.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and develop software for AI support capabilities, including architectures, APIs, frameworks, and libraries.
  2. Develop front-end and back-end components for prototypes and tooling to accelerate AI development.
  3. Maintain and guide development of shared libraries and tools.
  4. Update and troubleshoot existing applications, ensuring security, performance, and capability enhancements.
  5. Collaborate with clients and requirements owners to develop product lines.
  6. Create plans, roadmaps, and software design strategies, decomposing activities into system components.
  7. Contribute to strategies for rapid prototyping of AI, including Generative AI.
  8. Work with data scientists, UX designers, and developers to create scalable AI solutions.
  9. Document requirements and review documentation from other teams and vendors.
  10. Optimize software designs for performance and security, employing profiling tools.
  11. Stay informed on latest AI system architectures, design patterns, DevSecOps, and trends.
  12. Develop and report reference architectures and compliance standards.
  13. Implement CI/CD pipelines, and optimize software for scalability and security.
  14. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists and UX designers.

Required Experience and Clearance

  • Bachelor's degree + 5-7 years of experience or Master’s degree + 3 years.
  • Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and at least one additional language (Java preferred).
  • Experience with front-end frameworks like React or Vue.
  • Experience with back-end frameworks such as Node.js, Spring, Django, Flask.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and CI/CD tools.
  • Experience with containerization (Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of ORM frameworks like SQLAlchemy, and databases like PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch/OpenSearch, Neo4J.
  • Understanding of modern architectures like microservices and front-end frameworks.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to synthesize requirements.
  • DoD 8140 IAT Level III (preferred) and active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
