A law firm is seeking a talented and experienced mid-level associate to join its national Employee Benefits practice. The firm offers flexibility in office location, considering candidates for multiple offices across the United States. The successful candidate will have experience in employee benefits law and ERISA, including areas such as retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, fringe benefits, and mergers and acquisitions/downsizing. Location
Duties
- Provide legal counsel on employee benefits matters, including ERISA, qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, and fringe benefits.
- Advise clients on compliance with federal and state regulations regarding employee benefits.
- Assist with mergers and acquisitions, particularly with respect to employee benefits and executive compensation.
- Draft, review, and negotiate employee benefits documents and agreements.
- Conduct legal research and provide actionable insights on employee benefits issues.
- Communicate complex legal matters in clear and understandable terms for clients.
- Foster strong client relationships and work closely with senior attorneys to solve problems and deliver innovative solutions.
- Collaborate within a team-oriented environment to achieve client goals.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of experience in employee benefits law, with a focus on ERISA, retirement plans, executive compensation, health & welfare plans, fringe benefits, and/or M&A.
- Strong academic background with exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Experience drafting and reviewing complex legal documents.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues for clients.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Strong client relations skills and the ability to interact with business clients.
- Admission to practice law.
Education
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
Certifications
- Admission to practice law in one of the listed jurisdictions is required.
