Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) seeks highly skilled electrical engineers to develop cutting-edge hardware and firmware for national‑importance projects in the Military Embedded Systems and Applications group.

You will work on custom circuit cards, high‑speed interfaces, and wearable devices for the US Army and other users, contributing from architecture through verification. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in this field, US citizenship, and experience with PCIe/USB 3.x, DDR/LPDDR memory,

Qualifications

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in development of custom circuit cards from architecture through prototype bring-up and verification.
  • Experience in cards with USB 3.x and DDR/LPDDR interfaces.
  • Experience with standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters).

Responsibilities

  • Design complex embedded systems including architecture development, detailed design, schematic capture, and PCB layout.
  • Develop hardware and firmware solutions for DoD applications in military embedded systems.
  • Leverage FPGA RTL development and simulation to meet performance requirements.

Description

For this position we are looking for highly skilled electrical engineers to develop cutting-edge technology for the United States Department of Defense within our Military Embedded Systems and Applications group. As part of our team, you will help develop custom hardware and firmware solutions supporting a variety of applications, including augmented reality technology and other small, low-power, wearable computers and sensors used by the US Army and others.

Specifically, we need engineers and scientists who have the ability and interest to design complex embedded systems, including architecture development, detailed design, schematic capture, and PCB layout. Experience with FPGA RTL development and simulation is strongly preferred.

Candidates must have:

  • US Citizenship is required (Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information)
  • BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related technical field
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the development of custom circuit cards from initial architecture development through prototype bring-up and verification
  • Experience in the development of circuit cards with high-speed interfaces such as USB 3.x and DDR / LPDDR memory
  • Experience with standard lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multimeters

Mid-level Electrical Engineer Preferred Experience & Skills:

  • Experience with VHDL for FPGA RTL development
  • Experience with OSVVM and VHDL for FPGA simulation
  • Experience with embedded software development in C or Rust
  • Existing or prior US security clearance
