Job summary

Motion Recruitment Partners in Chicago is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support a fintech platform focused on debt relief and financial freedom. The role is hybrid in Chicago, IL, with AWS, IaC, and GitOps practices driving scalable cloud environments.

You will automate pipelines, manage containers with Docker/Kubernetes, and own infrastructure reliability while collaborating with engineers and leaders to improve performance and security.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years in a DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE role.
• Hands-on IaC with Terraform/OpenTofu/Helm.
• Experience with AWS core services (ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, Lambda) and CI/CD tools.

Responsibilities

• Support, maintain, and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure for reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Assist in implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines.
• Automate provisioning and configuration with IaC tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Monitor system health, analyze performance metrics, and troubleshoot issues.
• Collaborate with engineering to improve application performance and availability.
• Uphold cloud security best practices across infra and workflows.
• Contribute to high-quality software delivery via code reviews and documentation.
• Perform runbooks, routine maintenance, and production deployments; participate in on-call.

DevOps Engineer

As a DevOps Engineer, you'll leverage AWS, containers, Infrastructure as Code, and GitOps practices to build scalable, reliable cloud environments. Required Skills & Experience

• At least 2 years of experience in a DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE role
• Hands-on experience of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, OpenTofu, and Helm
• Strong understanding of DevOps/SDCL principles with the ability to take ownership of projects
• Experience with AWS and its core services such as ECS/EKS, S3, RDS, and Lambda
• Experience with CI/CD technologies such as AWS CodePipeline, Spacelift, and CircleCI
• Experience with containerization tools such as Docker, ECS, and Kubernetes
• Proven track record of strong project management skills

Daily Responsibilities

• Support, maintain, and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance
• Assist in the implementation and ongoing management of (CI/CD) pipelines
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation
• Monitor system health, analyze performance metrics, and troubleshoot operational issues
• Partner with engineering teams to enhance application performance, availability, and scalability
• Implement and uphold cloud security best practices across infrastructure and deployment workflows
• Contribute to high-quality software delivery through code reviews, adherence to best practices, and thorough documentation
• Execute operational procedures, including runbooks, routine maintenance, and production deployments, with accuracy and reliability
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to support production systems and incident response
