PDI Technologies in Houston is seeking a Mid-Level Data Analyst to turn data into reporting and analytics supporting Convenience Retail and Major Oil needs. The role is hybrid in Houston, TX, and involves building BI solutions on the Azure platform for performance and clarity.

You will work across analytics and customer-facing teams, delivering dashboards in Sigma Computing and Power BI, while collaborating with CRM and marketing tools to support mobile payments analytics and audience targeting.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years BI/Analytics experience.
• Strong understanding of BI principles, architecture, standards.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including automation.
• Proficient in SQL (T-SQL and Spark SQL).
• Hands-on with Sigma Computing and Power BI (DAX).
• Azure data platform experience (Azure Synapse, Databricks, ADLS Gen2).
• Exposure to ETL tools like Azure Data Factory and Databricks Workflows.
• Payments or mobile payments data exposure is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain BI reports, dashboards, and visualizations.

• Coordinate with CRM to manage audience transfers to Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

• Write and tune SQL (T-SQL, Spark SQL) for data prep and validation.
• Collaborate with team to ensure reports meet business requirements.
• Assist leadership and operations with new service design and delivery.
• Research data discrepancies and validate reports.

Job description

PDI Technologies is hiring a Mid-Level Data Analyst to help customers turn data into reporting and analytics that support Convenience Retail and Major Oil business needs, including analytics for mobile payments at fuel and convenience stores. In this hybrid role in Houston, TX, you will serve as a subject-matter expert, partner across analytics and customer-facing teams, and deliver BI solutions built for performance and clarity on the Azure platform.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, test, and maintain BI reports, dashboards, and visualizations in Sigma Computing and Power BI
• Build and support audience segments used for targeted communications and campaigns across Email, SMS, and push messaging
• Coordinate with the CRM team to manage audience transfers to Salesforce Marketing Cloud
• Function as the SME for the Convenience Retail and Major Oil verticals, including guided analytics and customer-specific reporting
• Act as the SME for reporting tied to promotional services
• Support mobile payments reporting across fuel and convenience by creating data assets, dashboards, and metrics for adoption, transaction activity, and program performance
• Write and tune SQL using T-SQL and Spark SQL to prepare, transform, and validate data for reporting and audience building
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure delivered reports, templates, and dashboards meet business requirements
• Assist analytics leadership and an operations analyst with service design, development, and delivery of new services as needed
• Research data issues and discrepancies in reports and perform the necessary validation
• Create one-time reports and data extracts on request
• Understand underlying data structures well enough to build new reports independently
• Add insight and analysis to distributed reports
• Interface with customers to understand their needs and translate them into requirements

Skills and experience

• 3-5 years of BI/Analytics experience
• 3-5 years on a BI or analytics team with strong understanding of BI principles, architecture, best practices, processes, and standards
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to automate manual and repetitive processes
• Strong knowledge of SQL, including T-SQL (SQL Server / Synapse) and Spark SQL (Databricks)
• Hands-on experience with Sigma Computing and Power BI, including DAX; exposure to Tableau is a plus
• Working knowledge of the Azure data platform including Azure Synapse, Databricks, and ADLS Gen2, plus SQL Server
• Exposure to ETL or orchestration tools such as Azure Data Factory and Databricks Workflows (Jobs)
• Exposure to payments or mobile payments data (such as transaction and authorization data) is a plus
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Must be a legally authorized worker in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future
