An elite law firm based in Washington, D.C. is seeking a skilled and motivated mid-level associate to join its Cybersecurity and Data Privacy Practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge issues related to cybersecurity preparedness, data breach response, AI compliance, and regulatory matters across a wide array of industries. Ideal candidates will bring three to six years of specialized legal experience and a strong interest in emerging technology and regulatory frameworks.
Washington, D.C.
Assist clients with cybersecurity preparedness and data breach response strategies
Conduct and manage regulatory investigations concerning privacy and cybersecurity matters
Develop and implement data privacy and cybersecurity programs aligned with U.S. laws (e.g., NIST, CCPA, HIPAA, BIPA, CPA, WMHMDA)
Provide support in M&A transactions through due diligence and risk assessment focused on data privacy and cybersecurity
Draft and review privacy policies and data processing agreements
Advise on issues at the intersection of AI, data privacy, and cybersecurity
Engage with clients across sectors such as tech, defense, healthcare, energy, and finance
3–6 years of relevant legal experience in cybersecurity and data privacy
Familiarity with U.S. state and federal privacy regulations
Experience with AI-related legal issues is a plus
Demonstrated interest in privacy and cybersecurity law
Government or law enforcement experience (legal or non-legal) is valued
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
High academic achievement preferred
Active membership in a U.S. state bar (District of Columbia bar preferred or willingness to become a member)
Deep understanding of cybersecurity and privacy legal frameworks
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Ability to manage complex regulatory matters and investigations
Effective communicator with both legal teams and business stakeholders
Adaptable to fast-changing legal and technological environments
Hybrid work model: In-office Monday through Thursday, with designated remote work flexibility
