Job summary

LJB Inc. in South Portland, Maine seeks a Mid-Level Design Engineer to contribute to infrastructure and site design projects within a multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will develop designs from concept to final design, prepare specs and cost estimates, and coordinate with clients and project managers. A PE license and a Civil Engineering degree are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 4–9 years of relevant engineering design experience.
• Experience with state/local DOTs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs from concept to final design.
• Prepare specifications, cost estimates, and bid packages.
• Coordinate with client staff and project managers.
• Mentor junior engineers.
• Support design-bid-build and design-build projects.
• Coordinate design activities with subcontractors and clients.
• Contribute to technical decisions on approach, cost, schedule.

We are currently seeking a candidate to fill a full-time Mid-Level Design Engineer position in South Portland, Maine. The successful candidate will possess a can-do attitude, have a passion for and take pride in their work, be a creative thinker, and have a willingness to collaborate while having the ability to work independently

Salary Range: $85,000 – $140,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

Mid-level Design Engineer Essential Functions

• Develop engineering designs for projects from preliminary concepts through final design.
• Prepare specifications, cost estimates, and final bid packages.
• Coordinate with client technical staff and project managers throughout project delivery.
• Support both design-bid-build and design-build project execution.
• Mentor junior engineers in the development of final design and construction plans.
• Coordinate design activities and meetings among design staff, subcontractors, and client managers.
• Contribute to project decisions related to technical approaches, cost, and schedule performance.
• Participate in professional organizations and industry-related activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• 4–9 years of relevant engineering design experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with state or local DOTs
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
