Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen Inc. seeks a mid-level Bridge Engineer to join our Pennsylvania team in Pittsburgh or other PA sites.

You will contribute to design, analysis, and detailing of bridges for PENNDOT and local agencies, working on multiple concurrent projects. The role requires a BS in Civil Engineering, a licensed EIT (PE preferred), and 8+ years of bridge design experience, with proficiency in AutoCAD/MicroStation and related analysis tools.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering is required.
• MS in structural engineering with Advanced Certificate in Bridge Engineering preferred.
• 8+ years of experience designing structural/bridge projects.
• EIT required; PE preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD and MicroStation preferred.
• Experience with MATHCAD, BrR, Staad, and OpenBridge preferred.
• Ability to develop plans and calculations for various bridge types including substructures.
• Knowledge of AASHTO LRFR, AASHTO Standard Specifications, and AASHTO MBE codes.

Responsibilities

• Develop superstructure designs for new and replacement bridges.
• Develop rehabilitation plans and details for bridge projects.
• Develop foundation designs for bridges and culverts (Piles, Spread Footers, etc).
• Prepare and review civil/structural calculations, drawings, specs, and cost estimates; coordinate with design teams.
• Meet with clients when needed and present project updates.

• Ability to meet with clients

Qualifications

• MS in structural Engineer with Advanced Certificate in Bridge Engineering preferred
• 8+ of years experience designing structural and/or bridge-related projects
• EIT required, PE preferred
• Experience using AutoCAD and MicroStation is preferred
• Experience with MATHCAD, BrR, Staad, and OpenBridge is preferred
• Ability to develop plans and calculations for a variety of new and existing bridge types including substructure design
• Knowledge of AASHTO LRFR, AASHTO Standard Specifications, and AASHTO MBE design codes and manuals
• Knowledge of the PENNDOT and locally administered federal aid project process for highway and bridge projects is a plus

Requirements

• Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
• Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
• Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
• Able to move equipment or inspection specimens weighing up to 50 pounds
