Job summary

Stellantis in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a Body Designer to create 3D NX designs and 2D drawings for Body in White components, from concept through production-ready detailing.

You will collaborate with engineers and design leaders, ensure design standards are met, and apply knowledge of manufacturing processes and PLM systems. A high school diploma and NX experience are required; Teamcenter familiarity is a plus.

Job description

The Body Designer is responsible for creating 3D designs using NX and Teamcenter for various Body in White components and assemblies. This role involves participation in the entire design process—from conceptual model creation to production-level design and detailing.

This position offers hands‑on involvement in the design and development of Body systems, providing an excellent opportunity to build foundational skills in automotive design.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Designing, laying out, and maintaining NX CAD models and 2D drawings.
• Supporting engineers, design supervisors, design leaders, and other designers as needed.
• Ensuring accuracy and compliance with design standards throughout the development cycle.

Basic Qualifications

• Education:
  • Minimum of an high school diploma or equivalent
• Technical Skills:
  • Minimum of 3 years of training or work experience in NX (Unigraphics) automotive design
  • Minimum of 3 years of practical knowledge of vehicles and the vehicle assembly process
  • Basic understanding or coursework on manufacturing processes (e.g., stamping, welding, molding, casting)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
• Software Skills:
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or related field
• Minimum of 5 Years of designer experience
• Experience with Teamcenter or similar PLM systemsFamiliarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
• Exposure to automotive Body-in-White sheet metal systems or related components
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and communicate effectively
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
