Job summary

Vantor is seeking an experienced Back-End Software Engineer to design, develop, and sustain a large-scale data analytics platform for a U.S. Government customer. You’ll build scalable server-side applications, services, and APIs within an Agile team, focusing on reliability and security.

Requirements include U.S. citizenship with TS/SCI clearance, 8+ years in backend development, and proficiency in Python, Java, Go, or C#. Onsite work is required at least 75% in Herndon, VA or Westminster, CO.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance (with willingness to obtain a CI poly)
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or related field with 8+ years of total professional experience in a technical support role
• Demonstrated experience in software engineering, back-end application development, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern back-end programming language, such as Python, Java, Go, or C#, with demonstrated experience developing production-quality software.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, server-side applications, and distributed software components, with proficiency in relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Willingness to work onsite at least 75% (or as needs dictate) from either Herndon, VA or Westminster, CO.

We are seeking an experienced Back-End Software Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and sustainment of a large-scale data analytics platform supporting a U.S. Government customer. The successful candidate will develop and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance server-side applications, services, APIs, and supporting software components that enable data ingestion, processing, integration, and analytics capabilities. The engineer will work within a multidisciplinary Agile development team, collaborating with data engineers, data scientists, front-end developers, systems engineers, and government stakeholders to deliver reliable, mission-focused software solutions. The role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, experience developing distributed applications, and the ability to contribute throughout the software development lifecycle.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with big data technologies and distributed processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, or Elasticsearch.
• Experience with cloud platforms and services, particularly AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, automated testing, and DevSecOps practices.
• Knowledge of software security principles, secure coding practices, and application security frameworks such as OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies, automated software testing, and infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Experience supporting government, defense, intelligence, or other regulated environments.

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range. The base pay for this position within California, Colorado, Hawaii, New Jersey, the Washington, DC metropolitan area, and for all other states is: $140,000.00 - $200,000.00
