Job summary

eChemLabs is seeking a Mid Full-Stack / Backend Developer to join its product team. You will design and build scalable backend services and REST/GraphQL APIs, working closely with the AI/Foundation Model Architect to integrate foundation models into production systems.

This remote-first role is based in the EU, with limited travel. You will contribute to data pipelines, deployments, and observability, helping accelerate electrochemical research through AI-driven software.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of full-stack or backend experience in startups.
• Proficiency in Python (FastAPI, Flask, or Django) or Node.js (NestJS, Express).
• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other NoSQL systems.
• Solid understanding of API design principles, authentication, and security.
• Basic familiarity with AI/ML pipelines or integration with AI APIs (OpenAI, Hugging Face, etc.).
• Experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Ability to work independently, with strong attention to detail and execution speed.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the AI/Foundation Model Architect to integrate foundation models, pipelines, and inference APIs into the backend.
• Develop and maintain scalable REST/GraphQL APIs and microservices.
• Design and implement robust data pipelines for structured input/output data.
• Work on integrations with vector stores, databases, and external APIs.
• Contribute to architectural discussions and DevOps infrastructure (CI/CD, cloud deployments).
• Apply best practices for performance, observability, and cost efficiency.
• Actively participate in product development, providing technical insight and feedback.

Must-Have Skills and Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of experience in full-stack or backend development, ideally in a startup environment.

• Experience withdatabasessuch as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other NoSQL systems.
