Job summary

System One is seeking a mid-level Embedded Software Engineer in Huntsville, AL to build mission-critical firmware in C/C++ for defense systems. Onsite role requiring Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain it.

You will design, test, and integrate software, work within Agile/DevOps environments, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE or similar technical field.
• 8+ years of relevant experience (or 6+ years with Master’s).
• 5+ years in real-time embedded systems (defense/aerospace preferred).
• Strong C/C++ embedded development experience.
• RTOS experience: VxWorks, Integrity, FreeRTOS.
• Experience with ARM Cortex or RISC-V microcontrollers.

We’re looking for a mid-level Embedded Software Engineer to help build and integrate mission-critical embedded software/firmware for advanced defense/safety-critical systems. You’ll work closely with a multi-disciplinary engineering team, writing high-quality C/C++ code and supporting testing and integration.
