Baylor Scott and White Medical Center - Temple seeks a mid-career Academic Trauma and Acute Care Surgeon to join the Division of Trauma & Acute Care Surgery within the Department of Surgery in Temple, TX. BC/BE in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care is required, with duties spanning clinical trauma care, education, and research.

The role includes leading rounds, OR coverage, resident lectures, ATLS/ATOM/ASSET instruction, and pursuing PI projects.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree, Fellowship in Trauma, Surgical Critical Care or Acute Care Surgery, and Board Certification by the American Board of Surgery or Osteopathic Board Certification.
• Optimal candidate will have 5-10 years post Fellowship training.
• Optimal candidate will be at the academic rank of Associate Professor or equivalent.
• Texas Medical License is required.
• Fellow of the American College of Surgeons when qualified.
• ATLS (instructor qualification preferred).
• Experience with the surgical care of trauma, emergency general surgery, and critical care patients.

Responsibilities

• Evaluation of all trauma and emergency general surgery consults.
• Rounding for the STICU and Trauma Acute Care Surgery Services.
• OR coverage for Trauma, Emergency General Surgery, and Elective General Surgery.
• Lectures for residents and medical students in Acute Care Surgery.
• Mentorship for residents, medical students and APP students.
• Instructors for ATLS, ATOM, ASSET.
• Research and PI projects for the three pillars of Acute Care Surgery.
• Regional outreach and involvement in TQIP and NSQIP.
• Leadership opportunities available early.
