Job summary
UAB Medicine’s Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) in Alabama seeks a nursing leader to coordinate unit staffing and ensure delivery of high-quality patient care for adults and geriatric patients with complex needs. You will lead a dedicated team under an intensivist framework, driving clinical objectives and performance in a dynamic care environment.
The role requires RN licensure in Alabama, BLS within 1 month, and potential ACLS/PALS within 6 months.
Qualifications
- BLS Provider required within 1 month of hire date
- ACLS and PALS may be required within 6 months in some units
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Alabama Board of Nursing
Responsibilities
- Coordinate unit staffing and provide leadership while ensuring clinical objectives and quality patient care
- Assign, direct, educate and monitor nursing and support staff during shift
- Assess daily patient care needs and develop patient care assignments
- Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify issues affecting outcomes
- Respond to complaints about patient care and manage through established channels
- May participate in hiring, training, directing and evaluating staff
