Job summary

OU Health seeks a Care Team Associate (CTA) for the MICU to support nursing staff under supervision. This PRN role offers hands-on exposure to hospital patient care and learning opportunities in critical care.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic nursing techniques and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and oral instructions.
• Maintains effective working relations with others.

Responsibilities

• Under RN supervision, monitors patient health status and implements the plan of care.
• Carries out physician and nursing orders as directed by the RN.
• Takes and records vitals (BP, temp, pulse, weight).
• Performs blood glucose monitoring.
• Monitors IV infusions and transfusions as directed by RN.
• Sets up and discontinues telemetry monitor.
• Collects specimens as directed.
• Applies sterile dressings and removes sutures/staples/drains as assigned.
• Performs tracheostomy/ oral suctioning and suctioning.
• Administers tube feedings.
• Reports significant changes to RN.
• Assists with admission, discharge and transfer processes.
• Transports patients as needed and aids movement.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly; changes linens.
• Assists restocking of supplies and equipment.
• Duties may be for one or multiple patients.
• When assigned to one patient, provides care and does not leave patient alone.
