Job summary

Rainier Recruiting seeks a CAD/CNC Engineer with Microvellum experience to lead the fabrication documentation for cabinet and millwork projects. You will interpret architectural drawings, build 2D construction drawings in AutoCAD, and produce BOMs and cut lists for production.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong CNC/G-code troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with shop floor teams to ensure on-time delivery while maintaining quality standards.

Qualifications

• Able to interpret architectural drawings and apply casework/millwork experience for CNC programming and production documentation.
• Create 2D construction drawings in AutoCAD for shop fabrication and submittals.
• Produce complete drawings, cut lists, and BOMs for programming, machining, and assembly operations.

Responsibilities

• Assess drawings to determine starting product modifications for custom cabinets/fixtures in Microvellum.
• Assign materials with attention to thickness, board sizes, and grain direction.
• Specify machining for hardware (hinges, pulls, slides, etc.) and select tooling.
• Create nest drawings for machine operators and troubleshoot CNC/G-code issues.
• Collaborate with shop floor to resolve manufacturing concerns and ensure on-time completion.
• Prepare and deliver approval drawings and construction documentation.
• Develop and modify products from standard specs and provide accurate information for production.

Job description

Willing to consider some remote work to candidates with a proven track record of working from home with Microvellum Experience – This would be a hybrid remote role and you would still need to come into the office a few days a week.

This role will be pivotal in the manufacturing, engineering, and management of multiple projects simultaneously from contract agreement until the job is complete, especially regarding engineering cabinets/fixtures for production using Microvellum.

This position will be responsible for interpreting architectural drawings and applying their casework and millwork experience to produce CNC Code and documentation required for production. This role may expand to include creating detailed shop drawings for submittal. A successful engineer is creative and will find ways to ensure that jobs are completed efficiently and on time. While the ideal employee is proud to be “right a lot” in his/her work, he/she is not too proud to ask a teammate for help as the ideal candidate understands that individual success is essential to the team’s overall success. This role will require signing of a Non-Disclosure Agreement.

Essential Tasks (including, but not limited to) :

Employee may perform other related duties as needed to meet ongoing business needs or additional duties may be assigned per employee’s growth and development.

• Assess the drawings to determine the proper starting product to be modified to create new custom products; ability to create custom products in Microvellum.
• Assign proper materials to products with attention to thickness, board sizes and grain/pattern directions.
• Include and assign machining to parts for all applicable hardware including hinges, pulls, drawer slides, grommets, access panels, row holes, etc.
• Understanding of basic machine operations and distinguishing proper tooling to assign for each machining action.
• Create organized nest drawings to be used by the machine operator.
• Troubleshoot G-code and machine error codes as they relate to the CNC program.
• Work with shop floor personnel on issues and manufacturing concerns, ensuring continuous product and process improvements.
• Interpret architectural and interior design drawings to create 2D construction drawings using AutoCAD.
• Provide complete, detailed and accurate drawings to manufacture operations adhering to customers’ needs and any applicable codes and regulations.
• Prepare construction information (i.e. drawings, cut lists, BOM) giving the necessary information for programming, machining, and assembly operations.
• Develop and modify existing products from established standard specifications.
• Prepare approval drawings that ensure all the essential product information is signed off by the customer.

Reporting requirements (subject to change):

• Daily report by end of business day sent via email to direct Supervisor to include hours worked, updates regarding projects completed/outstanding, etc.
• Will set schedule for assignment completion with supervisor and work to keep schedule.
• Respond to all company emails within one business day.
