Job summary

Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis is seeking an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Architect to lead the design, governance, and long‑term strategy for Microsoft cloud services, hybrid on‑premises solutions, and security.

You will architect and manage Exchange Online, Entra ID, Power Platform, and SSO; oversee Power Platform administration; drive automation with PowerShell; coordinate with vendors; and participate in disaster recovery planning.

Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

Responsible for architectural designs, technical direction, and long-term strategy and implementation of the college's use of Microsoft's cloud platform and services. This includes administration, governance, management, operational support, and security of Microsoft, and other cloud platforms, and remaining on-premises hybrid solutions at the college.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Architect and lead the planning, testing, configuration, deployment, maintenance, security, support, and administration of Microsoft cloud services, on-premises operating systems, and third-party applications that are integrated with or supporting assigned enterprise platforms.
• Lead, implement, and support M365 SaaS applications and solutions, including Exchange Online, Purview, SharePoint, Security & Compliance, and Teams.
• Ownership of identity management and governance including the design of enterprise identity provisioning and lifecycle process integrations.
• Administration and support of Microsoft Entra ID and related features such as user management, dynamic groups, admin role management, licensing, app registrations and secrets, and Azure Enterprise Apps for SAML SSO.
• Oversee Microsoft Power Platform administration and governance.
• Identify opportunities and enhance automations and workflows via Graph, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and PowerShell.
• Subject matter expert for the M365 suite of products and tier 3 escalation support for related incidents.
• Participate in professional activities related to improving job skills and knowledge.
• Develop and participate in disaster recovery exercises as required.
• Design solutions that meet both business and technical requirements.
• Monitor services and systems to achieve optimum performance and cost utilization levels.
• Maintain high standards of quality by developing effective operational procedures and documentation.
• Work effectively and diplomatically with peers and users, share expertise with peers, and encourage a team-oriented environment. Present technical sessions to users and serve on project teams as requested by the supervisor.
• Work with third-party vendors to integrate and support systems installed locally or hosted.
• Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage the College's resources and provide economies of scale.
• Must be willing to travel as necessary.

SALARY RANGE:

$110,000 to $125,000 Annualized

EDUCATION:

• Associate degree in a computer-related field with additional documented computer coursework or equivalent work experience.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

REQUIRED:

• Seven or more years of work experience managing Azure, Microsoft 365, and other cloud platforms.
• Five or more years of experience as a Windows systems administrator or engineer.
• Five or more years of experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID.
• Five or more years of experience with Microsoft Exchange and Exchange Online.
• Advanced experience with SSO, Group Policy, and Microsoft Teams.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SharePoint technologies.
• Advanced experience using scripting languages to automate system administration processes, specifically PowerShell.
• Experience acting as technical lead for large-scale enterprise projects/implementations.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet and track deadlines continuously under minimal supervision.
• Must be able to troubleshoot issues up through the layers of the OSI model.
• Must have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated use of initiative and organizational abilities.
• Knowledge of system monitoring, instrumentation, alerting, and troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical abilities.

DESIRED:

• Advanced experience with cloud integrations such as AWS and GCP.
• Experience managing enterprise-class backup solutions.
• In-depth knowledge of virtualization technologies, specifically VMware.
