We recently implemented a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central ERP system and are seeking an experienced developer to take ownership of ongoing customization, dashboards, reporting, and system improvements.

About the Role

This is a hands-on technical role working directly with our accounting, sales, purchasing, inventory, logistics, and operations teams. Your primary focus will be turning business needs into practical ERP enhancements, dashboards and reliable reports that help employees work more efficiently and give leadership better visibility into the business.

We are seeking an experienced professional with significant hands-on experience implementing ERP systems from the ground up and/or leading integrations of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central within manufacturing environments.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success supporting organizations with a mix of:

• Engineer-to-Order (ETO) / Job Shop manufacturing
• Discrete manufacturing
• Mass production manufacturing

This role is a department of one, and this role requires an individual who can quickly understand how our business operates, ask insightful questions, identify process improvement opportunities, recommend practical solutions, and independently drive projects from requirements gathering through implementation, training, and post-go-live support. This person should be able challenge assumptions when necessary and Lead implementation from discovery through go-live.

As ULB's sole internal ERP developer, you will own projects from concept through implementation. You must be able to understand business needs, design practical solutions, and personally build, test, deploy, and support them. This role requires both thoughtful system design and strong hands-on development skills, particularly in customizing dashboards, reports, and workflows. We are looking for someone who can become an internal expert on our business processes and Business Central environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and customize ERP functionality to support ULB's business processes.
• Build and maintain dashboards, management reports, and operational reports using Power BI and the ERP’s reporting tools.
• Improve visibility into sales, order backlog, inventory, purchasing, shipping, financial performance, and other key business measures.
• Meet with department leaders and users to understand needs, define requirements, and prioritize improvements.
• Create workflows and automation that reduce manual work, duplicate data entry, and spreadsheet dependence.
• Develop and maintain integrations between the ERP and other business applications.
• Investigate reporting discrepancies, troubleshoot system issues, and validate data accuracy with the appropriate departments.
• Test and document changes before deployment, including their impact on existing processes and future system updates.
• Maintain source control, technical documentation, and a clear record of customizations.
• Train employees on new reports and functionality and provide ongoing technical support.
• Coordinate with our implementation partner and outside vendors as needed while building internal knowledge and ownership.
• Design and develop custom business central extensions using AL
• Create and modify tables, pages, reports, queries, codeunits and extensions
• Support Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, Excel and Microsoft 365 integrations

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central development experience
• Five or more years of relevant ERP development, customization, or technical consulting experience, including substantial hands-on Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP experience.
• Demonstrated ability to develop customizations and reports—not solely administer or use the system.
• Strong Power BI skills, including data modeling, DAX, and Power Query.
• Experience with the development language, extension framework, and reporting tools used by ULB's specific Dynamics 365 ERP product.
• Experience working with APIs, integrations, and ERP data structures.
• Understanding of business processes across accounting, sales, purchasing, inventory, and operations.
• Ability to translate business requests into clear technical requirements and dependable solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and commitment to accurate reporting.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate clearly with technical and nontechnical employees.
• Degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
