Job summary

Solaris Energy Infrastructure, Inc. is seeking a Microgrid Automation Engineer to design, configure, and commission automation and control systems for utility-scale microgrid plants.

You will work with contractors, OEMs, and operations teams, focusing on Ignition SCADA (Inductive Automation) and DCS platforms to ensure high availability. The role requires hands-on technical work, strong scripting in Python/Java, and experience with SCADA, HMI, and industrial protocols.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–8 years of automation, instrumentation, or control systems experience in power/energy.
• Experience with Ignition SCADA platform and Perspective/Vision modules.
• Experience with industrial DCS/PLC platforms and related software tools.
• Familiarity with industrial protocols: OPC-UA, Modbus, MQTT, DNP3, Ethernet/IP.
• Knowledge of IEC 61511, ISA-18.2, NFPA and cybersecurity basics.

Responsibilities

• Design, configuration, integration, and commissioning of automation systems for microgrid projects.
• Develop SCADA/HMI interfaces and scripts to support operations and reporting.
• Configure data points, alarms, trends, and dashboards in Ignition.
• Integrate PLCs/RTUs/meters via OPC-UA, Modbus, MQTT into Ignition SCADA.
• Support FAT/SAT, testing, commissioning, and field troubleshooting.
• Create and review control narratives, functional descriptions, and diagrams.
• Collaborate with EPCs, system integrators, and operations teams.
