Job summary

Actalent is seeking an entry-level Microbiologist Technician for an onsite contract position in Atlanta, GA. You will prepare media, maintain cultures, and perform aseptic techniques, while documenting results and coordinating with the team.

A Bachelor’s degree in biology-related field is required, with basic microbiology/molecular biology experience considered a plus. The role involves DNA extraction, 16S rRNA sequencing prep, and small-scale fermentations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
  • Basic laboratory knowledge in microbiology, molecular biology, or fermentation is a plus.
  • Ability to work safely in a laboratory and follow SOPs.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to document work accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare microbiological media and maintain bacterial cultures under aerobic and anaerobic conditions.
  • Revive archived cultures, prepare glycerol stocks, and perform aseptic techniques.
  • Extract genomic DNA, prepare samples for 16S rRNA sequencing, and maintain records.
  • Perform small-scale microbial fermentations (shake flask level) and monitor culture growth.

Actively Interviewing for Entry Level Microbiologist Technician to join specialty food and beverage company in Atlanta, GA!

Description
  • Prepare microbiological media and maintain bacterial cultures under aerobic and anaerobic conditions.

  • Revive archived cultures, prepare glycerol stocks, and perform aseptic techniques.

  • Extract genomic DNA, prepare samples for 16S rRNA sequencing, and maintain accurate records.

  • Perform small-scale microbial fermentations (shake flask level) and monitor culture growth.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related field.

  • Basic knowledge or laboratory experience in microbiology, molecular biology, or fermentation is a plus.

  • Ability to work effectively in a safe laboratory environment and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, and the ability to accurately document experimental work.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Atlanta, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
