Job summary

Novartis is seeking a QC Microbiology Technician to protect product quality and patient safety. This onsite role in Morris Plains involves routine environmental monitoring in controlled manufacturing environments, ensuring cGMP and data integrity across all laboratory activities.

The position requires a microbiology degree and at least one year of pharma lab experience, with strong communication and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in microbiology or a closely related scientific field.
• At least one year of experience in a pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical laboratory.
• Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Laboratory Practices.
• Experience performing environmental monitoring or microbiology testing.
• Ability to document laboratory activities accurately while maintaining data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and batch‑related environmental monitoring in controlled manufacturing environments.
• Document laboratory activities accurately and in real time, following current Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Record, review, and maintain laboratory data in accordance with data integrity principles.
• Support daily setup, operation, and maintenance of the environmental monitoring laboratory.
• Incubate, read, and enumerate microbiological samples using cultured media.
• Prepare microbiology samples and out‑of‑specification media for shipment to contract laboratories.
• Review and track microbiology results supporting timely product release.
• Collect samples and analyze data supporting gowning qualification programs.
• Ensure laboratory equipment is calibrated, maintained, and functioning properly.
• Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives.
