Job summary

The Microbiology Processor at MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital is responsible for receipt, processing and storage of specimens, including centrifugation, separation, refrigeration, labeling, making and staining smears, and plating to culture media. This staff-level role operates under direct supervision within routine laboratory functions focusing on accuracy and customer service.

Requirements include college biology, microbiology and/or cell biology courses; Medical Lab Tech (MLT) preferred.

Position Summary

The Microbiology Processor will be responsible for receipt, processing and storage of specimens.

This includes centrifugation, separation, refrigeration, labeling, making & staining smears, planting specimens to culture media and storage of samples.

This is a staff level position working under direct supervision.

Work situations are routine laboratory functions requiring a commitment toward customer service, attention to detail, organization, and prioritization.

Internal contacts may include patient care staff throughout MHS.

External contacts are limited but may include physicians and patients.

Requirements

College biology, microbiology and/or cell biology courses preferred

Medical Lab Tech (MLT) preferred

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off.

As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $24.40 - $37.14 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
